Deep-fried Crab Claws

My 8 year old son came up with this recipe! Like his dad, he is an avid lover of good food :) By his own admission, the home economics classes he is having at school influenced him to come up with this yummy recipe.

Preparation Time - 45 minutes

Cooking time - 20 minutes

Ingredients:

Blue Crabs - 1 kg (3, large ones)

Turmeric - 1 tsp

Salt-to taste

Pepper powder- 1tsp

Worcestershire sauce - 1 tbsp

Eggs -2

Breadcrumbs-as required

Oil-to deep fry

Method:

1. Wash the crabs. Boil them along with turmeric powder and salt, over medium heat for 15 minutes. Remove the crabs. After they have sufficiently cooled, take out the meat into a mixing bowl. Keep the claws aside.

2. Add the pepper powder, salt, one beaten egg and Worcestershire sauce to the mixing bowl and mix well.

3. In two separate bowls, keep one beaten egg and breadcrumbs ready.

4. Now squeeze out half a fistful crab meat and place it around a crab claw. Care should be taken to squeeze well so that water and other juices  leave the meat and it covers a portion of the crab claw all around. Repeat this step with other crab claws until you run out of meat.  You should get around 8 to 10 meat-covered crab claws.

5. Now, dip each crab claw in beaten egg first and then roll over the breadcrumbs. See that it is well-covered with breadcrumbs.

6. Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry the crab claws one by one. It shouldn't take more than 2 minutes to deep fry a crab claw.

7. Serve hot with tomato sauce.
