This is a popular fish curry from Indian state of Maharashtra. I have made a change by adding cream at the end.

Ingredients:
Fish -500 gm (seer fish) cut into slices
Turmeric - 1 tsp
Curds - 3 tbsp
Red chilli powder -1 tbsp
Garlic paste - 1/2 tbsp
Lime juice - 1/2 tbsp
Sal t- to taste
Oil - 2 tbsp
Bay leaf - 1
Broken cinnamon -1/2 tbsp
Cloves - 4
Black peppercorns -1/2 tbsp
Onions - 2, roughly chopped
Grated coconut - 2 tbsp
Tomato - 2, roughly chopped
Oil -1 tbsp
Cream - 2 tbsp, thick
Coriander leaves -1-2 tbsp, chopped

Method:
1. In a flat bowl, mix together curds,turmeric, red chilli powder, lime juice, garlic paste and salt. Mix it well. Now marinate the fish slices with this marinade. Leave it aside to marinate for 30 minutes.
2. Heat oil in a vessel, add the broken cinnamon, cloves, peppercorns, bayleaf and onions. Saute till the onions turn translucent. Take it off from heat. Keep aside to cool. Blend this masala in a blender to a smooth paste.

4. Heat the shallow fried fish oil in an earthen vessel .Add the masala paste and stir well for a minute. Slowly add the shallow fried fish pieces. Simmer and cook till the fish is done.
5. Transfer to a serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with rice or chapatis.
