Mutton Cutlet

Cutlets are another all-time favourite  in our family! There are different versions of cutlet across the world. In Indian cuisine, they specifically refer to cooked minced meat/vegetable that is rolled in bread crumbs and shallow-fried. Aloo Tikki is the popular vegetarian cutlet in India.

Preparation time - 30 minutes

Cooking time - 15 minutes for a set

Ingredients :

Mutton mince - 500 gm (you can use beef mince too)

Potato - 4, big boiled

Onion - 5, finely chopped

Green chilli - 3, finely chopped

Garlic - 15 cloves, finely chopped

Ginger - 1/2'' piece, finely chopped

Mint leaves -1/2 cup,  finely chopped

Coriander leaves - 1 cup, finely chopped

Oil - 2 tbsp

Egg -  2, beaten

Bread crumbs - for coating

Ghee(an Indian variant of clarified butter) - for shallow frying

Salt - to taste



Method :

1. Keep the potatoes for boiling. In the meantime, in a pan, add the mutton mince, pepper powder and salt, along with a cup of water. Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes. If there is water, open and cook stirring continuously till all the water evaporates. Blend mince in a blender.

2. Mash the boiled potatoes in a bowl. In a kadai, heat oil add the onions, garlic, ginger and green chillies and saute till the onion turns light brown.



3. Into the bowl of mashed potatoes, add the fried onions,ginger, garlic and chillies. Mix well. Add the ground mince, chopped coriander and mint leaves. Mix and check the seasoning.

4. Add the egg to the mix and mix well again.



5. Make lemon sized balls and keep aside. Heat a pan, flatten each ball into a patty and daub with the breadcrumbs and place it on the pan, You can place 4-5 of them. Pour drops of ghee around each cutlet and cook each side till golden brown. Repeat the same for the remaining balls.



6.  Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
