This is one of my favourite mutton recipes and after a 5 month sabbatical I thought there can't be a better return to blogging!! Whenever I have prepared this dish, my family has always craved for more! And, predictably, today was no different!!

Preparation time : 10 minutes
Cooking time : 40-45 minutes
Ingredients :
Mutton :500 gms, cut into cubes
Onion : 2 medium size, finely sliced
Tomato paste :1 1/2 tbsp
Yoghurt : 1/2 cup, whip it well
Garam masala powder : 3/4 tsp
Green chillies : 1 chopped
Curry powder : 1 1/2 tbsp
Black pepper powder : 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder : 1 tbsp
Cardamom powder : 3/4 tbsp
Cloves : 1/4 tsp
Garlic paste : 1/2 tsp
Ginger paste : 1 1/4 tbsp
For the seasoning :
Cumin seeds : 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon : 1 inch piece
Groundnut Oil : 2-3 tbsp
Method :
1. Wash and cut the meat into cubes. Keep aside.
2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add the cumin seeds. when they stop spluttering add the cinnamon sticks, when you get the aroma, add the sliced onions and green chillies.
3. Saute till the onions turn light golden. Add ginger and garlic paste, keep stirring so it doesn' t stick to the base.
4. When the raw smell goes, the tomato paste and stir well.
5. When the oil floats add all the dry spices [black pepper, garam masala, curry, cardamom and cloves powders].
6. Stir well. Now add the whipped yogurt and meat. Keep mixing well till you see the oil at the sides.
7. Add 1/2 cup of water and close the cooker.
8. Pressure cook for 4 whistles and simmer and cook for 20 minutes.
9. When the pressure is released open the cooker in case there is water open and cook on high flame till it becomes dry or desired consistency.
10. Transfer to a serving bowl, garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
11. Serve hot with rice or rotis.
