Green Mutton Curry

Ingredients:
Mutton : 500 gm
Onion : 2 med size finely chopped
Ginger garlic paste : 1-1/2 tbsp
Tomato : 2 small or 1 big (pureed)
Kashmiri chilly powder: 2 tsp
Curds : 1/2 cup (whipped)
Turmeric powder : 1/2 tsp
Clarified butter : 3 tbsp

Preparation Time : 15 minutes
Cooking Time : 30 minutes


For the masala:
Coriander leaves : 1/2 cup
Mint leaves : handful  (big)
Coconut : 2-3 tbsp
Garam masala : 1/2 tsp
Green chilies : 2

For garnishing:
Coriander leaves : 2 tbsp, finely chopped

Method :
1. In a pan heat 1 tbsp of clarified butter, when hot add the sliced onions. Stir occasionally till the onions turn brown.
2. When cool, beat the onions to a smooth paste. Keep aside.
Grind together all the ingredients for the masala to a fine paste.
3. Heat a heavy bottomed vessel, heat the remaining clarified butter, add the ginger garlic paste stir till the raw smell goes.Add the onion paste and stir well.
4. Add the chilly powder, turmeric and pureed tomato and mix well. keep stirring for 2-3 minutes.Add the ground masala and mix well.
5. When the oil starts to come out from the sides, add the mutton pieces and mix well. Keep mixing for 8-10 minutes till the color of mutton changes and the pieces are well coated with the masala.
6. Add the whipped curds and mix. Add 1-1/2 cups of water and mix well. Close and cook on high flame for 5 minutes and cook for 20-30 minutes on low flame, till the mutton is tender.
7. Turn off the heat, transfer to a serving bowl. Garnish with coriander leaves.
8. Serve hot with rotis, naan or boiled rice.


Please Note : If you want to cook in a pressure cooker, add 2 cups of  and cook on high flame for 4 whistles and on low flame for 10 minutes
