This recipe is a favorite of my son and my hubby. The melting of pepper in the onions and the juices from the tongue gives it a unique taste. This is a try again recipe !!!!
Ingredients:
Beef tongue: 1 kg
Onions: 4 big, finely sliced
Black pepper powder: 4 tbsp
Salt to taste
Ghee: 2-3 tbsp
Water : 1 cup warm
Method:
1. Remove the skin of the tongue,(if it is not cleaned and got). Cut into small cubes and put a tsp of turmeric powder and salt and wash well. Drain it in a colander.
2. In a pressure cooker, add ghee, when hot add the slices onions and stir fry till they are golden brown in color.
3. Add pepper powder and salt, stir well, add the tongue cubes and saute for 5-6 minutes.
4. Add water and mix, check seasoning and close the cooker and cook it on high flame for 5 whistles and for 20 minutes on slow flame.
5. When the pressure is released, open and check the gravy, cook till dry on high flame.
6. Transfer to serving bowl, serve hot with rice or chapatis.
