Khoya Chicken

This is a rich and yummy chicken recipe with khoya, curd, coconut milk and loads of coriander leaves! I got this recipe from an aunt who was a distant relative of the erstwhile Nizam of Hyderabad.

Preparation time -10 minutes
Cooking time - 20-25 minutes

Ingredients:

Chicken - 500 gm, cut into medium sized pieces

Khoya (a type of dried whole milk used in Indian sub-continent) - 1 cup

Oil - 2-3 tbsp

Curd - 1 cup

Coconut milk - 1 cup

Onion -1, halved and sliced

Green chillies - 3-4

Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp

Fresh coriander leaves - 1 cup, chopped finely

Turmeric - 1/2 tsp

Salt  -to taste



Method:

1. Heat oil in a pan,add the onions and saute till they are translucent.

2. Add the ginger garlic paste and brown for 4-5 minutes. Add the chillies, chicken and turmeric and       stir, cover and cook for 6-8 minutes, till the chicken turns brown.

3. Whisk the curds and khoya together to get a smooth texture. Pour in the curds-khoya mix. Stir again and add salt and the coriander leaves and mix well.

4. Continue cooking till the chicken is almost done.

5. Add the coconut milk and gently stir. Cook for 5-6 minutes till the oil floats on the top.

6. Put in a serving bowl. Garnish with coriander leaves.Serve hot.

7. Serve with Indian breads or rice.
